March 2011: Little Blue Heron (Egretta caerulea)

Little Blue Herons are typically found in the gulf states and farther south, and aren't at all common in New England, but this adult posed for me in the wind at Rachel Carson NWR (Brave Boat Harbor Division) early last spring. First year birds are all white.
