12 months of 4x6 glossy photos in a small plastic case that folds back into a display stand
March 2009: Cooper's Hawk (Accipter cooperii), female I rolled right up to this Accipiter in my studio driveway in Portsmouth, NH, while she snacked unperturbed on an American Robin. I say "she" because she's much bigger than the males I've photographed like the one on last year's cover. Adult's have bright red eyes, juveniles yellow. These mid-sized hawks are a frequent predator of backyard feeders, and have staged a remarkable comeback in recent decades. © Copyright 2008 Phillip Augusta. All rights reserved. |
